While members of Congress may not be the most laudable public figures (or the most productive), the ever-growing number of women elected is something to celebrate. This year, the 113th Congress has 101 female members, 20% of the total Congressional population. Twenty percent doesn’t sound like much, but considering that women have been serving in Congress – and voting, for that matter – for less than 100 years, I think that winning 20% of a notoriously male-dominated government is a victory worth celebrating. The girls at Jezebel think so too; check out their fun 101 Facts About 100 Women of the House & Senate.
